Here are 3 Tips to Reduce Stress in 2020

Whether it’s New Year’s resolutions or life’s everyday commitments, people can relate to a common feeling; already being stressed out in 2020.

With the New Year in full swing, everyone is trying to get better at checking off all the items on their to-do list, and it can make relaxing and self-care really difficult.

So, here are 3 ways to help reduce stress and charge forward this year!

1. Exercise

We know, you hate hearing it. But virtually every medical professional agrees that exercising regularly is a great way to reduce stress and feel better. It doesn’t have to be two hours a day, every day. Remember, you’re not competing against anyone but yourself.

The best and most achievable goals are set by people who simply want to do better than they have in the past. If last year, you were only able to exercise once or twice a week, try three times a week. And it doesn’t have to be hours of arduous weight training either. Even walking for 20-30 minutes per day, or at least a few times per week, can make all the difference in the world.

2. Drink More Water

Even if you’re getting proper sleep, and otherwise taking good care of yourself, you can still feel tired or worn out and wonder why.

It turns out, the majority of people don’t drink nearly enough water, and are habitually dehydrated. A healthy amount is usually 2.5 - 3.5 litres per day, depending on body weight and gender, according to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.

Staying hydrated will improve endurance, reduce fatigue and help you feel more capable of getting through your days without feeling overwhelmed or exhausted.

3. Aromatherapy

It’s true, aromatherapy is a great way to relieve stress and reduce pain. Your senses can have a huge impact on your overall mood, and pleasant aromas from your favourite essential oils can positively affect your brain chemistry and hormone production.

Want effective, near-instant stress relief? Light a few scented candles, preferably those that use all-natural ingredients such as non-GMO soy wax, and pure essential oils or natural fragrances. Then, put a few drops of essential oils in a warm bath.

You can personalize your stress relief regiment by choosing scent combinations that you love! Some of the more popular choices include peppermint, eucalyptus, lavender, sandalwood, sage, and vanilla.

Good Luck and Keep 2020 Stress Free!
